With the New Year just around the corner, many people will make some New Year’s resolutions with hopes to accomplish the resolutions in 2014.  Resolutions are wonderful and can really help people to better their lives if followed through.  The problem is that many people find it difficult to achieve their resolution and give up within a couple months.

For example, a common New Year’s resolution is to commit to exercise and lose weight.  This is a great goal but oftentimes people end up giving up shortly after beginning due to one reason or another. Once you have created your action plan, post the goal and plan in a place that you can see daily.  Tape it to your wall or put it on your refrigerator.  The point is to continually remind yourself that you are on your way to achieving that goal.

The key is taking that first step and writing down your goals.  Once you do that you create momentum that will drive you forward.  You must also commit to taking action whether you feel like it or not.  Change requires action and action is not always easy.  Successful people don’t expect change to come easy and are willing to persevere through obstacles and even setbacks in order to produce results.
