What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?

104701067Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a development process that focuses on the language of the mind to allow you to change your behaviors, your attitude, and your state of well-being. NLP focuses on the dynamics between the mind and language, and how those dynamics work to influence behavior. While NLP is a type of psychotherapy, it does not attempt to diagnose, assess, or treat any disorders in the traditional sense of this type of therapy. Instead, it focuses on helping users to change their perceptions and ways of thinking to overcome their own self-limiting behaviors.

The basis of NLP is that your perceptions, or filters, are determined by your surrounding influences, such as your family, friends, and community. These perceptions color your interactions with others on an unconscious level, guiding the way you act and feel in certain situations. When you can change these unconscious filters, you gain the ability to change your reactions and behaviors, allowing yourself to achieve your personal and professional goals.

The first step in understanding NLP is to realize and accept that you don’t know what you don’t know. Your perceptions, which are what you know based on your own life experiences and interactions with others, are responsible for your behaviors. In order to make behavioral changes, you have to learn the perceptions that you don’t know. Once this is accomplished, you will be able to change the way you see and interact with the world around you, allowing yourself to make the changes needed to better your life.

The teaching process for NLP has its basis in modeling others’ behaviors. When you can model others, you learn new perceptions in an effort to see the world through their eyes. Once accomplished, you can begin to learn how to change your thought and language process for better outcomes in life.

10 Ways to Make Exercise More Fun

86504797Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. You can incorporate a number of different activities into your workouts so that you can remain engaged, and even look forward to your exercise times each week.

  • Listen to Tunes – This will help you engage in your exercises, and increase your motivation.
  • Find a Buddy – Working out with a friend can help keep you motivated, and take the boredom out of exercise.
  • Incorporate Activities you Like – The best exercise routines are those that you actually enjoy. Consider workouts like dancing, golf, soccer, or any other sports that you enjoy.
  • Join a Class – Solitary workouts can be boring. Join a class that allows you to socialize – you just might make some new friends in the process.
  • Try New Things – Change your workout routines to keep things interesting. Doing the same thing day after day gets old, and may make you lose interest in exercise altogether.
  • Change Your Scenery – Many exercises like walking and running can be done outside. If you typically head to the treadmills to get exercise, move your workouts outdoors to liven things up.
  • Audio Books – If you love to read the latest best seller, consider purchasing it in the audio format so you can listen to it during your workout.
  • Reward Yourself – Give yourself a reward after every workout. This can be a nice dinner out, a relaxing massage, or even a new clothing item.
  • Skip the Scale – Changing your body requires time, and the scale won’t show all of the changes that occur. Muscle weighs more than fat, so taking measurements may be much more motivating than relying on a number.
  • Go Shopping – Buy some cool new workout gear periodically to keep your confidence levels high, and increase your interest in hitting the gym.

What is Astral Projection?

177696002Astral projection is an experience that is labeled as an out of body experience. Those in the scientific community discredit these experiences as being nothing more than hallucinations or dreams, but for those who have had the experience, it is quite real.

Astral projection is described as a person’s consciousness leaving his or her physical body. These experiences often occur during times of intense stress, such as those that occur after horrendous accidents. In these cases, the person can often relate what was occurring, even though he or she was unconscious. Many of those who experience this type of astral projection explain the sensation of looking down on themselves, while realizing they are not actually in their own body.

Astral projection can also be induced by entering a deep meditative or trance-like state. When the person enters these states, they claim that they are able to transport their unconsciousness far away from their body, with some stating that they have covered great distances in the process.

Achieving a state conducive to astral projection requires extreme relaxation and quiet. Any disturbances will interrupt the process of entering a trance state, eliminating the possibility for the experience. There are a wide range of aids that have been described as aids for those wanting to experience astral projection, with one of the most popular being binaural beats.

Most scientists refute claims of astral projection, focusing on the laws of physics. However, even with these detractors, there are plenty of cases where out of body experience claims were reported and backed up by those who were in attendance. While science struggles to come to grips with the possibilities presented by astral projection, there are still numerous cases of the phenomenon reported each year, with nearly 14% of the population reporting such experiences.
